Barry De More is a figurative painter and draughtsman. He is primarily a self taught painter but gives credit to those who helped inform his early development. In galleries and museums he would study such painters as Rubens, Titian, Rembrandt, Delacroix and Corot. Then as time passed he was captivated by Constable, Turner and The Impressionists. Sickert had a tremendous effect on his palette and painting technique which is still evident in some of Barry's paintings today.
"I always give precedence to drawing" he says. "Drawing begins the intimate relationship to the subject and I try to find another way of drawing the subject, every drawing is a new thing, a new start." Throughout his time as a practitioner he has established a wide skill base that leaves his library of works as a veritable testament to Art History.
